Reacting strongly to the remarks of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice-chairman and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi regarding police uniforms, the spokesperson of Punjab Police said that they should perform their duties above political and group interests. The government should take note of the insult done by the PTI leader.
It should be noted that Shah Mehmood Qureshi used inappropriate words for the uniform of the Punjab Police, to which the Punjab Police has reacted.
According to the spokesperson of Punjab Police, Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s abuse of police uniforms of thousands of martyrs is very sad. Extreme caution on the part of the local police is not inexplicable given the nature of the charges and their sensitivity, caution in cases involving sensitive national and political disputes is not new.
In this regard, the spokesman further said that in the recent past, similar caution was shown against various political and national leaders on charges of insulting national institutions and religious sentiments. Also involved, the police are performing their duties above political and group interests, the government is expected to take notice of the desecration of the police uniform by the party leader in the government.
