One of the most prestigious and respected occupations in the world is teaching. This occupation carries extra weight in the Islamic religion because our dear Prophet Muhammad (SAW) identified as a teacher.
Allah Almighty says in Holy Quran: “Like (a favor which you have already received) in that We have sent among you a Messenger of your own, rehearsing to you Our verses, and purifying you, and instructing you in scripture and wisdom, and in new knowledge” (Quran, 2: 151).
As is common knowledge, a teacher is a man who commands respect and obedience. Teachers are among the most powerful members of society and are highly valued in contemporary society. The task of educating and forming pupils’ personalities falls on teachers. In every faith, teachers are regarded as the most revered individuals. Islam has accorded teachers a high prestige and rights because of the significant role they play.
Islam has given teachers a lot of attention since they are the foundation for social development and perfection and are responsible for influencing and forming people’s attitudes and behaviours. When Hazrat Ali (RA) said, “If a person teaches me one single word, he has made me his servant for a lifetime,” we can realise the greatest level of teachers.
Teachers’ Rights
One learns from a teacher, and as a result, has some rights. Following are a few of them:
- To “lead his learner” is to fulfill the teacher’s obligation to develop the intellect and Akhlaq of his charges.
- Receive honor and gratitude. As the one who offers spiritual nutrition and enhances students’ behavior, the teacher is the spiritual father of the pupil. We should recognize instructors for their excellent job because of this.
- Teachers should be able to express themselves freely, and interference and restrictions should be removed.
- Other people should respect teachers. The instructor who is eager to impart information to us deserves our respect.
- To make their jobs simpler, teachers should receive good care.
In other words, we should respect teachers who are eager to impart information and education to us, and we should become closer to them. Respect your teacher at all times.
