Are major technology companies constructing subterranean shelters in anticipation of Doomsday?
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are reportedly planning to construct a 5,000-square-foot underground bunker on their Hawaii ranch, equipped with energy and food provisions. This has sparked conspiracy theories about Doomsday preparations among US citizens, as per a report by The US Sun.
A Wired investigation, published earlier this month, detailed that the shelter on Kauai’s Ko’olau Ranch will have metal doors filled with concrete, resembling bunkers and bomb shelters. The 1,400-acre compound includes over a dozen buildings, with at least 30 bedrooms and 30 bathrooms, based on planning documents obtained by Wired. It encompasses two stand-alone mansions, 11 treehouses, a fitness center, guest houses, and operations buildings.
Workers involved in the construction of the Zuckerberg-Chan property were allegedly required to sign strict non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), as reported by TIME. Wired estimates the cost of the property, including land, to be over $270 million.
While the purpose of the underground shelter in Kauai County remains unclear, it’s worth noting that other billionaires, such as Peter Thiel and Sam Altman, have been rumored to be building bunkers. However, this hasn’t been officially confirmed. On a different note, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are exploring the possibility of space colonization through free-floating pods.
