Security has been put on high alert in Islamabad following protests following the disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan.
Islamabad Police has said in a statement on the social networking website Twitter that security has been put on high alert in Islamabad. A heavy contingent of police, Rangers and FC has been deployed in the red zone.
According to the spokesman, strict action will be taken against those who violate the law. At this time, all roads are open, there is no obstruction to traffic.
In another statement, Islamabad Police said that all forms of peaceful protest is a legal right, blocking roads and damaging government property is against the law. Governments of other provinces are requested to stop the movement of illegal gatherings towards the federal capital.
According to the spokesman, the police are using tear gas according to the situation in Faizabad. Seniors, women, children are requested to avoid unnecessary travel. All people are requested to keep the roads of hospitals open.
