Security Vulnerability in Parliament: Suspect Purchased Shoes in Lucknow; Seven-Day Police Remand
The four suspects in the Parliament security breach case who were detained yesterday were placed under seven days’ detention, according to the Special Cell of the Delhi Police. Today, the accused appeared before Patiala House Court. The prosecution requested a 15-day remand, but the court decided to place the accused on a seven-day custody instead. In court, the police disclosed that the defendants had bought shoes from Lucknow, where they had made holes to hide explosives.
The police announced today that their teams will be traveling to places such as Mumbai, Lucknow, and Mysuru to conduct investigations and obtain financial details from the accused. The police suspect that other people were involved in the security breach and will search for the source of funds as well as the complex scheme that led to it.
Following a complaint by the Deputy Director of Parliament Security, cases under IPC sections 452, 153, and 16-18 UAPA have been recorded against the accused by the Delhi Police Special Cell. The four suspects allegedly admitted responsibility for the attack and were providing the Delhi Police Special Cell investigative team with “rote answers,” according to police officials who spoke with news agency ANI earlier.
The judge also asked whether the accused Manoranjan’s mother or Neelam’s sister-in-law Shabnamwas were notified of the arrests at today’s hearing.
In court, the prosecution contended that it was imperative to identify the plot that led to this incident. They said that after purchasing two pairs of shoes from Lucknow, holes were put in them for the placement of smoke bombs. The police added that since Lucknow is where the cavities were produced, Lucknow has to be looked into as well.
According to the authorities, the incident was the product of a comprehensive conspiracy; therefore, it is imperative to uncover the plot since additional individuals may have been involved. According to the authorities, the accused possessed a brochure that depicted the prime minister as being gone. The accused are participants in a Facebook group run by the Bhagat Singh Youth Club. They claim that Lalit Jha, the principal conspirator, is fugitive.
